V-DAY!!! (and the drama that was prenatal yoga)

We made it to 24 weeks!  (well almost 25 weeks now)  I have to admit it gives me some relief to know that if something happened and she had to be born next week there is chance she could make it.  Obviously, the odds of survival get better and better every week she keeps cooking!  I try not to think of the millions of things that could still go wrong even thought sometimes it keeps me up at night.  Instead I am trying to focus on the fact that we have made it to V-DAY!  Woo hoo!

We made major progress on the nursery over the weekend.  All of the furniture has been assembled!  YAY!  This weekend we will hang the pictures on the walls.  Now that the dresser is put together I can start washing and putting away some of the clothes and other things people have gifted us so far.

Still trucking along with my zumba classes 4-5 times a week.  I have to admit it gets harder and harder to keep up the pace, but I am careful about how hard I push and try to keep a good workout without going too hard.  I tried prenatal yoga over the weekend and it was a disaster!   It was done by a doula (which I have no problems with), but she was giving some terrible advice during the whole class.  And the class was 30 minutes of "let's all share our feelings" and only 10 minutes of actual yoga.  If you know anything about me, you know I am not a touchy/feely/share my feelings kind of person.  She also . . .

1.    Told me that I was endangering myself and my baby by continuing my cardio routine -- ummmm, not according to many published studies, not to mention my OB and MFM.

2.    Told a woman who was asking if there were moves that could help turn a breech baby that she should just talk to the baby and ask it to move.  Seriously?!  If I could rationalize with this baby I would kindly ask her to get off my sciatic nerve.  My baby does not seem to be listening.

3.     Described birth as an orgasmic experience.  I don't even know.

Needless to say I will not be going back.

Baby is the size of a cantaloupe!

How far along: 24w5d

Physical symptoms: Baby is sitting on my sciatic nerve and it hurts.  Like almost can't walk at times hurts.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:

Maternity clothes: That is all I wear these days.

Stretch marks: Nope.

Sleep: Depends on the night.  I don't have to get up and pee as much but sometimes she wakes me up kicking me.  And depending on how my back feels it can be hard to sleep.

Best moment last couple of weeks.  Finishing the nursery furniture!  That dresser was a bitch to put together.  It came in like a million pieces.

Movement: All. The. Time.  Seriously, she is non-stop movement.  DH got to feel her last week -- that was awesome!

Food cravings: Still craving the meat.  But my new favorite obsession is Baby Ruth candy bars.  Something about peanuts and chocolate right now I just can't get enough of.

Gender: It's a GIRL!  Baby Madison.

Labor signs: Thankfully not.

Belly button: Same as always.

What I miss: being able to walk without pain.  Ugh.  Stupid back pain.

What I am looking forward to: My 1 hour glucose test on Monday.  I know that seems crazy to look forward to but I have been dreading the glucose testing for months now so I am ready to just get it over with and know whether we are dealing with GD or not.  As an IR PCOSer I am obviously nervous.

Milestones: Did I mention we made it to V-DAY?!!!

  1. YAY V-Day and YAY for never going back to crazy lady prenatal yoga! hahaha! I hope you'll find another (normal) one near you.
Good luck at the glucose test! I'm afraid of failing that too eventually since I'm also IR-PCOS. FX for you!
