A Really Good Appointment

Well, I had my RE appt this afternoon and it went REALLY well!   I am relieved.

relief

Here is the long story.   I got there and the nurse took my weight and other vitals and said that the RE wanted to do an exam to see if he sees any signs of my endometriosis coming back.  Then after the exam he would talk to me and DH (who came with me -- yay!) about what our options are for going forward.

My RE (along with his medical student) did a pelvic exam and didn't see any signs that my endo is back yet -- at least to the extent it was before the surgery and 6 months of Lupron.

Then we discussed our options.

GOAL #1:  Am I ovulating on my own?  My RE was really impressed with the weight loss and said that he thought it was worth getting off the birth control and trying on our own for about 3 cycles.  This cycle we will try completely on our own and see if I naturally get AF or get KU.  If I don't get AF on my own we will go from there and probably move onto injects + IUI .

GOAL #2:  Is my lining developing like it is supposed to?  If I do get AF on my own then we will do another cycle on our own but add another endo biopsy to see if my lining issues are resolved or if we still have the same problems as before.

GOAL #3:  Can I get KU on my own?  Assuming I can ovulate on my own and that my lining issues have resolved, we will try on our own for a few cycles and see if we can get KU,

If, I am not ovulating on my own with the weight loss or my lining is still a mess we will move on to Injects + IUI.  I asked about Femera but my RE said he does not want me to try any more femera / clomid type drugs.  That they can both thin my lining and since I already having lining issues he wants to go straight to injects for our next medicated cycle.

DH and I were really pleased with how the appointment went and are excited to start trying again!

Oh, and even better -- my RE put no restrictions on my diet or exercise right now.  In fact, he encouraged me to keep doing what I am doing.

I couldn't be happier right now to get off the bench and get this show on the road.

  1. Yay ttu!! I'm so glad the appt went well for you! It sounds like you are putting some good plans into place. I know you are nervous about getting off the bench and trying again since there can be so much disappointment and heartache that comes with this but just remember that things really have changed for you since the last time you were trying. You lost a substantial amount of weight, it looks like the endo hasn't come back... these are great things that might make your TTC very different than months ago! I hope so!!!

Just a little personal story - I am anovulatory but I did O ONCE during the last 1.5 yrs and it was the month after I lost 5% of my body weight. I don't know if that was the reason but there you have it. I am excited for you and hoping for good things!!! xo
