Telling The Hubs

My first beta came back on Tuesday at 30 which the nurse says is right where it should be for one blastocyst at 12 dpo.  My progesterone was "great" so no need for supplements right now.  Overall she said everything looked good.  Obviously this is still VERY early but for right now at this moment, I am KU and everything is where it should be.

So, I figured it was time to tell the hubs.  I struggled with whether I should tell him in some cutesie way or just throw the pee stick at him, but since this is the only time we will ever get to do this, I wanted to do something kind of special.  We both went to the gym that night so on my way home I stopped at the store and got a few things.

I couldn't bring myself to buy a onesie or some item of clothing -- that seemed too real.  But I did get him this little stuffed monkey that rattles.  You see, we call each other "monkey" so this baby will be our little monkey.  In fact we call our dogs our little monkeys.  So I thought the monkey toy would be a perfect representation of what was happening.  I got a little blue sack and some tissue paper to put it in.  When I was checking out they had Caramelo candy bars on sale and they are his favorite so I threw one of those in there too just for fun.  The last thing I put in the bag was the positive pee stick from that morning.

When I got home I gave him the bag and the first thing he pulled out was the monkey.  You could tell he was a little confused but said "oh thank you" and put the monkey next to his chair.   Then he pulled out the Caramelo and again thanked me and put it with the monkey.  BUT then he said "thanks" and started to throw the bag away!?  I had to tell him the most important part of the present is still in the bag.

Finally he found the stick.  It took him a minute to (1) realize what is was and (2) realize what is said but once he did he said "you are pregnant?!  I honestly didn't think that would work!"  Ha ha.

He was in complete shock.  After he had a few minutes to let it sink in you could tell he was happy about it.  He has been super sweet since then, asking me how I feel and joking about the little monkey we are growing.

So, here is the picture of the monkey and the caramelo.

Next beta is not until Monday which I am a little nervous about.  But I have continued to pee on sticks and they are turning positive faster and the lines are getting darker which I will take as a good sign.  :)

Here is the pee stick from this morning at 14 dpo.
